Charlevoix Lighthouse Print. This print is a reproduction of a painting I originally did with the lighthouse white. I got many requests for that scene in red. I used it as a reference for the new painting that you see now.
The Charlevoix Lighthouse is a painting of the lighthouse from the pavilion at Lake Michigan Beach. It is one of my favorite views of the lighthouse. I like the way the lighthouse is nestled in the foliage from the pavilion on the south side of the beach just over the stone wall where you stand down on the sand in the beach grass.
I had the “white lighthouse version” available in a local gallery and it was very popular for years. In 2009, they painted the lighthouse red. I worked part-time in an art gallery so I would hear comments and was able to talk to people interested in my art. New visitors to the area would come in and see the print and note card, they loved it but would ask, “Where is that lighthouse located?” Well, I figured it was time to update the version with the new “red” lighthouse for the people who had never seen the white one.
